Pembroke Magazine accepts online submissions year-round -- though may temporarily suspend submissions for particular genres in order to catch up on reading -- and response time is usually within two to four months. If after four months you have not heard back regarding your submission, you may query the editor. Unsolicited email submissions are not accepted. Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but please notify the editor immediately if your work is selected for publication elsewhere. All submissions must be properly formatted and accompanied by a brief cover letter. Please only submit one category at a time, and wait until you receive a response on a submission before sending more work. Rights revert to the author upon publication, and payment is two contributor’s copies.
For flash fiction and micro memoir, you may upload up to three pieces per submission. For standard-length creative nonfiction and fiction (up to 7,500 words), please upload only one essay or story per submission. Poets and artists may submit up to five pieces per submission.
